Overview
The Hard Shell Advantage: The benefits of a hard shell rooftop tent really come into their own when looking at the convenience of set up and pack up as the hard shell cover itself forms a functional part of the tent’s construction. The hard shell allows for 1" of polystyrene insulation as well as gas assisted struts for an easy pop-up design.
Super Fast Set Up: Set up becomes a breeze with little to no structural poles to place; simply pop it open, roll out the ladder and you’re literally a few steps away from a good night’s sleep. Packing the tent back up is as easy as removing the flexi-rods, pulling down the lid, packing the collapsable aluminum ladder and closing the latches.
Comfortable and Spacious: The Swift 1400 features a spacious 51.6" x 86.4" mattress made from a high-density foam and 3D anti-condensation mat that is 3 inches thick. With a total open height of 63.6" there is plenty of internal head room for sitting up for a game of cards or to simply get changed.
Rugged Design For Additional Mounting: The hard outer shell features steel covered aluminum extrusions made for direct mounting of T-slot accessories for a dynamic mounting capacity of up to 110lbs (50kg). The tent is made from 280gsm ripstop nylon fabric for peace of mind in wet and windy conditions. Each entry is complete with dual layer 120gsm fine mesh screen. The front entry point is protected by a hooded awning.
Universal Mounting: The Swift 1400 features a universal mounting solution that can be mounted onto a variety of crossbars. When closed this tent's footprint is 90" x 55.2" x 7.2"

For greater wet weather performance from your tent, customers are encouraged to regularly apply a water based waterproof spray with UV protection, available from any good outdoor store./p>

Overall a good product. Mine was missing some hardware and they flat out wouldn’t sebd me the correct items but offered to refund my cost of parts after a rather humiliating verification of missing hardware process. Also, the instructions are lacking, random parts where included that don’t seem to go with my tent and finally the seam tape appears to be less than preferred. Time will tell. That being said it works as advertised and at $1000 off is a reasonable price—not great, but reasonable.

Spacious and big - roomy for a 6'4" guy.

OK. Yes, it's big. Why I bought it. That's the good news. It's heavy, but I'm OK with that and hoping the weight won't be an issue. So far, it seems fine. I did add a 3rd crossbar for additional support to the rear, and as those came as a pair I'll likely go ahead and add the other to the very front.
A couple negatives.
Not comfortable. The mattress just isn't enough. Plan on adding at least 2". The problem becomes the size; trying to find an exact match appears impossible. LMK if you have a link to a product please! On the next outing, I will bring a couple 3" foam cot pads to use. I just feel they will be too big to be left in the tent when closed, so this is temporary until I can find a better fitting mattress topper, probably 2" thick.
Difficult to close and open (latches). I've had to add a rubber mallet to my tools collection in the 4Runner. The only way I can get them closed, is to be sitting on top of the RTT, and beating the latch closed. Opening isn't as difficult, but it requires prying open. Just using my hands won't cut it. BTW I did what they suggest in one of the main product YouTube videos and relocated both latches to the back (instead of the sides, where they were initially).
Closing time is NOT 2 minutes LOL! I'm not sure how these RTTs advertise this. Like any tent, when closing, the air inside poofs out the sides of the tent. no amount of bungee cords, inside or out, will prevent this. You will be visiting both sides. lifting the top and cramming in the tent so it's inside the shell. This is a fact.
If you have a 4Runner, you will not be able to use the included telescoping ladder on the rear entrance, If you have an awning mounted, you will not be able to use that side entrance either. I have an awning on the driver's side and use the ladder from the passenger side. This is fine for me, just FYI. I do use my tailgate ladder that I already have, for sitting on the RTT when closing it (see above about beating on the latches). At least I'm getting use from that ladder lol.

We had a wonderful trip, the rooftop worked well and the setup went seamless. The one complaint I have is the so called memory foam bed was hard as rocks. We even placed our sleeping bags down under us but it still was just a little harder then I expected.

Only issue we had on our first week trip in the tent was that each of the four corners there is a gap between the canvas and the metal roof. This let a lot of mosquitos in the night it rained. So many we had to get out of the tent and take shelter so we were not eaten alive. Otherwise great trip.

Great tent for the money. Great flow through the tent on hot days and the pockets etc inside are super handy. The mattress was pretty dang good and this is the first rooftop tent I've owned that I didn't feel the need to add an extra mattress or remove the factory one all together. The smaller more aerodynamic clam shell design so far has saved me a decent chunk of gas money over my old traditional RTT. The ability to attach stuff to the tent like the roof rack and awning is amazing. The design also allows me to have it on all summer because it doesn't impede my work related needs. I'm a sign maker and I can strap sign materials directly to the flat top of the tent under the roof rack and still able to also put ladders on the roof rack.
