Why would anyone want to buy a luxury suburb cruiser you may ask? Please see above. We bought a Lexus GX460 and want you to follow along as we outfit it to create the ultimate family overland vehicle while maintaining comfort and daily drive-ability but first, why the GX?

THEY MAKE GREAT JUMPING VEHICLES

Alright, that's not our GX, but this wouldn't be Ironman content without an image of someone absolutely sending it. Lexus is Toyota's luxury vehicle line, meaning the product is exceptionally well made. In addition, luxury vehicles are usually dealer maintained, meaning you can get an affordable pre-owned vehicle that is in great shape.

SAME VEHICLE? NAY! I SAY

The GX460 (left) is like the American lost twin to the Toyota Prado 150 Series Land Cruiser (right). This means there is a ton of aftermarket support and product options that allow you to pimp yo' ride. 

CAPABLE WITH POWER TO BOOT

The GX460 has a robust drivetrain and a 4.6 liter V8 engine with plenty of power for toy haulin', or muddin', or rock crawlin.' Whatever floats your boat. With a 6500lb towing capacity, the GX460 can handle your boat but don't expect to win any fuel economy awards.

ABLE TO TAKE PUNISHMENT

The 460 has many off road features such as a body-on-frame construction with a fully boxed frame, full time 4WD with a locking center differential and low range and an ATRAC system. These features make it a formidable mountain goat.
